Question Fuel Filler

Need some info on cleaning out the screen in my fuel filler neck. I am assuming thats what it is because everytime i go to get gas, it overflows and runs down my truck, or i have to stand and baby sit the pump. Not sure how to remove the screen and where it is at on the filler? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

There is no screen. There is an anti-siphon valve and a rollover valve (may be one in the same). It's possble one of those is out of place, but I'd think that would make it impossible to fuel at all.

as said, there is a check valve in the tank and gets pushed down with the pressure of fuel pushing it down and allowing fuel to enter the tank. as time passes i guess the spring in the valve gets weak and as the fuel decreases it slams shut and the resulting incoming fuel overflows out.

resolutions? replace the tank

Pretty sure the check valve is part of the fuel pump itself, so to replace the check valve means a new pump is needed. Hopefully someone can chime in to confirm this.

I don't know about the fuel systems at all, but I would think the problem would be within the fuel filler neck assembly, which rockauto has for ~$50. If the problem is during refueling I would think that it's a valve in the filler neck, or maybe with the breather hose which I believe is part of the filler neck. But like I said, I have no experience with the fuel system. It's possible this problematic valve is inside the tank just past where the filler neck attaches up.

If there was a screen, and I don't think there is, I would wonder where you are getting your gas from! Have to be a lot of crap in there to plug a screen!
