windshield wipers are erratic
Hello I need some input. When i turn on my wipers the timing is off....sometimes they will work just fine then they will "wipe" about 4 times in a row.....then wait a few seconds...then go back to the proper setting. Im thinking it might be the motor relay? Any input will be great thanks.
The Multi-Function switch / stalk assembly seems to be a fairly common source of trouble. It usually causes issues with turn signals and / or wiper functions. If you can find one for cheap that might be the first thing to try and swap out.
My 05 RAM does the same thing, but only on intermittent. I thought it was normal, and never really gave it another thought. They never stopped working, but they would just do extra random sweeps. Must be time for a new switch.
My '05 has done this for as long as I can remember. At first it annoyed me, because I figured what's the sense of having intermittent settings if they are just going to do what it wants, anyway... Alas, I just kind of learned to live with it. Might look into replacing the stalk now that I've read more about it on here.

Before you replace anything you might want to try this. Its cheap and easy.

"Hi Guys, my wiper issue is solved thanks to a fellow DT member....I apologize that i cannot remember his name......took the wiper motor out and opened the housing....adjusted the contact arms, cleaned off the the old grease, cleaned the 2 contacts and regreased and reassembled. Super easy to do...removed 2 screws from either side of the cowl and 5 push tabs along the firewall after removing the wiper arms. With the hood open, I bowed the cowl to remove to gain access the wiper motor. There are 3 - 10 mil bolts and the 13 mil nut that you need to remove. took under an hour to complete the task!!"
