I have a 2007 Dodge Ram 5.7. This morning I put the key in the ignition and it wouldn't turn. The steering wheel is NOT locked and you can turn it back and forth and it WON'T lock. Gave up and drove second car, but I need my truck, any suggestions guys? I went by my local dealership to ask them what they thought and they asked me if I tapped on the key. I did everything but that. They said that it could be the tumbler making the key think that the steering wheel is locked and won't let it turn to start the car. When I get home tonight I will "tap" the key and see what happens and find my spare key and see if it works.

Well, keys don't "think". It's possible the interlock/ignition switch is out of alignment. If the key is not in the lock, the steering wheel MUST be locked, or something's really broken.

Nope, first question post.

 

Got home and shot some "lock lube" in the cylinder where the key goes ansd jiggled the key and it worked. Been informed that my key is wore out. Gotta find that spare and get another key made so I always have two.
