Default '03 4.7 RPM's jumping around

I have a 2003 Ram 1500 4.7 : For well over 2 years I've had the 442 Trouble Code for a very small leak in my EVAP system. I did the gas cap change and it didn't fix anything so since I had no performance loss I just left it alone. In that time every now and then like maybe once every few months I'd notice my RPM's jumping or dropping by a few hundred while at highway speed. Even with the cruise control on it would do this but generally once I'd get to my destination and turned the truck off it would not do it again...

Now fast forward to yesterday. While driving at slow speeds (30-35mph) I noticed the RPM jumping, but it was way worse than ever before. I got home and pulled the trouble codes and along with the 442 that is always there, I had a 440 which was for the EVAP system malfunction. I jacked the truck up and went to check out the canisters and hoses in front of the gas tank and I discovered one of the big hoses was completely off due to a major crack. I fixed that line, purged the trouble codes and restarted the truck and not only did I seemingly fix the 440 code, but the long lasting 442 also! I was very happy.......then I drove the truck. It started again with the RPM's jumping, but not quite as bad as earlier before I found the bad hose. Along with the RPM issue the truck died a couple of times at stop signs/lights. It would start right back up but once at idle it would just die every once in a while.

While under the truck I did a quick check and didn't see any other vac lines that were cracked or dry rotted and I don't even know if an EVAP issue would translate into the RPM's jumping around or not. Unfortunately now the truck hasn't tossed any codes so I don't know where to troubleshoot beyond doing a good cleaning of the throttle body. Has anyone seen anything like this or have any options for me to try??? Thanks so much!
