Default Ok... This is interesting...

I pulled into the gas station last night to fuel up, and shut the truck off. My wife and her friend were talking to me and I realized that I needed to clear both of the trip meters. The odometer was still lit up and I thought that I could clear that one with the key off. I couldn't so with my other hand I turned the key on while still holding down the odom reset tab. HOLY S$&T!!!! My display cluster has been invaded by aliens!!! The speedo and the tach pegged out the stereo did something funky according to my wife. All of the lights in the cluster lit up and then the tach and speedo incrementally counted down to zero positions.
The only lasting effect was that the radio reset, the codes didn't though because I still have my fuel evap leak code.
Was this a freak thing or another one of Dodges little dealer tech reset switches???
If any one has a clue I would be interested to find out. Thanks. Shane.

This is diagnostic mode for instrument cluster, if you wait till gauge sweep completes you will get what we call c codes. If you get a 00 00 code everythibgs good fyi. You just accidentally found test mode no worries.

Calibration for the instrument cluster (controlled by aliens, of course).

I did this to mine (on purpose) last week after I had read about it on here, just to see what it did, exactly. It's pretty neat to see it blow up like a Christmas tree, and to see the dials increment themselves around. I recommend everyone experience it at least once in their ownership lives... :P
