Default Electrical issue.

Hi all, I have a 2004 Ram 1500, 5.7. Yesterday I got home and went to get out of my truck and noticed that the door chime did not go off when I took the key out. Everything else seem to be off like normal, but the chimes stay on when the door is open and I get the "door ajar" light. I wiggled the wire boot in the door with no effect, tried wiggling the key and ignition and running the tilt wheel up and down several times with no change. I did notice that if I push the lighter in with the key out, it doesn't get hot, but the chime and ajar light go out. When I started it today, it sounded slow, like there may have been a drain on the battery all night and day. Although that could be my imagination.

Anybody had and fixed this issue?

Thanks,
Erik

Can you duplicate the issue? Have you checked your acid level in your battery? Remember that most of the time an older or weak battery will go dead in the colder or winter months.

Default electrical?

you might try disconnecting the battery, to re-boot the computer
system? in the owners manual it discusses how to turn off certain chimes, alarms, or do a code check, Rik

That happens to me everytime I park in the garage and leave the headlights on.
