Engine Siezure
Yeah, I kinda wondered about that too. It's hard to mistake a transmission lock up for a seized engine...
Reading this thread-- makes my head hurt! I'll never use a torque convertor OR Amsoil again!! They cause problems!
Glad to hear its getting taken care of! I don't have any powertrain warranty left-- so I know how I would feel if it happened to me.

I agree with the rebuilding repairs and I do not trust anyone with my personal equipment because I have seen alot of idiots. The tech that checked my truck put a boost pack on the battery in an attempt to turn the engine over with the starter after about ten start attempts. I stayed local for a reason and watching these guys work on my truck is very painful. They would not give me a rachet and socket to put on the crankshaft, basically I told them I was a gear head and rotating machinery engineer and they were barking up the wrong tree....Funny because I am a big ol Texas boy in Valencia California.
People were inquiring about my oil changes, now that the coast is clear and its Dodges fault I can say that I do practice extended oil change intervals. The truck has been on Amsoil since 3000 miles and the first change was about 26,000. The second change was at approx 56,000. So on my third oil fill at the failure the engine looked good enough that the service tech asked if I wanted to ship Amsoil to them to refill the sump. With Amsoil standing in the background waiting for an engine to analyze, I can say 100% that I love Amsoil and hats off to them for great stuff and standing by my side. Will let you all know if I find details on the specifics of the transmission failure. The vib I get so far is they are tight lipped.

The tranny itself is pretty stout, but the stock torque converter is a weak link. 24% loss of HP from the crank before it gets to the rear wheels is about the worst in the industry and it has it's limits as far as how much power it can handle. I'm right about at the HP & Torque limits of what one can take right now.
Given it's a warranty repair, fine let them replace it for free. But if/when mine goes I have a saying - always make a repair a mod...

The truck is driven pretty easy, with my current tune in the computer and NON MDS engine I can get over 18 MPG Average on the freeway and 12-14 in town. This truck has LIFETIME POWERTRAIN, they only offered it for a short time and I luckily have it. Hopefully my truck holds up and will last me a long time, really not looking forward to buying another vehicle any time soon. I will be asking Dodge for failure analysis reports on the transmission but do not expect them to share any information. What sucks is paying for the rental, in the process of moving and needed a tow vehicle, so 2012 Suburban at $53 a day but its really nice.
