Cool Tires affect alignment?

Alright, I know many of you read the title, and your wondering what (insert explicitive here) is getting taken by a tire shop... Hi.

Anyways, we put Cooper Discovery tires on last winter and were very happy with their winter performance. In the spring, I replaced them with BFG ATKOs, and had an alignment done by FT. The truck tracked like it was on rails. I could litterally let go of the wheel on a straight road and let it ride.. and ride... and ride.. 6 months later, I've got the cooper tires back on and it seems like I hit a bunch of boulders or something. The truck is pulling to the right. I'd have to assume they got the preasures right when they put the tires on on Friday, although I have not checked. We noticed last year (Coopers) that the truck seemed to track breaks in the road, but did not pull real bad either way.

Any thoughts about how to get this fixed/diagnosed?

Check the pressures first. If that doesnt fix it try moving front tires to back, one of the Coopers may have a radial pull. Last option is take it to an alignment shop.

Agreed on all of above. Most front end shops wont charge you to look at it and will check all the FE components and tell you what needs to be replaced if anything. You can decline the work and take it home and do it all yourself and then take it back for the alignment

Well, I'm glad I took it in.. Apparently I picked up a nail shortly after getting the coopers put on.. got that fixed, tracks much better.

Okay, it wasn't the nail affecting my trucks ability to travel down the road, it was the air that was escaping from the tire and increasing drag on that side.. :P

The nail itself was found not guilty of affecting my alignment..

Your alignment was probably fine when you installed the Cooper tires, but through the harsh winter your truck probably hit potholes made by plow trucks. When it came out of alignment the tires started wearing un-even. You didn't notice because you were unaware of the problem till you put them back on after the alignment was checked and corrected.
It is and will always be good practice to allign your vehicles every spring to avoid these issues. And don't forget to rotate the tires every 6 thousand.
