I did not pull the plugs when i did mine. While it is the right way to do it to be certain you get all the water and coolant out. I just did a very long flush. And i did the flush with my truck pointing downward on a steep hill. Based on the capacity of the cooling system and how much distilled water and coolant i added after the flush, their was at most 2 quarts of water left in the block.

As for what kind of coolant? Read the first page of this thread. You have to use the Chrysler HOAT coolant of the Zerex G-05 coolant.

And yes, use pipe dope on the plugs if you do opt to pull them.

Old threa I realize but I Need to flush out my coolant. Last winter my heater stopped working so I just flushed the core with water . I just ran the water in both directions in the heater hoses on the side of the block as there were couplings easily accesable
. This worked and my heat was fine. Now it seems tue heat is not working again,so that leads me to believe that there is sediment in the system that has clogged thr core up again. I have done tons of work to vehicles, suspension mostly, but I do brakes I have cleaned.out the throttle body, but I have never flushed a coing system (I habe replaced a radiator more than once in various vehicles). My question, to do the flush after drainig the system I just fill with water and the chemical run, drain and repeat until its clear? What about thoae kits that prestone sellls, how are they?
