Default CV Joint problems?

Nice site Guys, Hope I can learn and share. Think my CV Joint is on the fritz, Had one replaced last year, figure maybe this time its the other side. Starting when turning to the right from a dead stop, feels like running over highway turtles just lesser, now you can feel a thump, thump, thump when barely rolling forward, My truck just turned 50,000 miles. Dont 4x4 that often, Does this sound like the CV Joint? Could it be something else?, anyway to confirm the problem? Does anybody know a conservative price to have one replaced? Felt I got ripped off last time. Thanks, Rik

If you're running at stock height, it's not that common. These CVs are pretty stout IF left at stock running angles, but they get downright brittle when the angle is increased.

Symptoms could be CV, but could also be ball joint, tie rod end, hub or even the rack. Lift the front end up and start to give a good tug on everything, it should rear it's ugly head...

Default Stock Height

Thanks for your input, I did crank the torsion bars when the truck was brand new, never had a problem until now. I will check the front end. Rik
