Doesn't mean it won't come back. If you already bought the sensor, just change it, or have it ready if/when the CEL comes back.

Could always be a partially clogged cat too...

Aww man. That would suck.

On second thought, here in Arkansas they don't inspect our vehicles. Did away with that a few years ago. I've had my cats cut out and a pipe welded in many times.

What if I did the same with this Ram? Would it alter anything noticeably?(besides better flow)

I know I have one o2 sensor downstream of it so, is there a way to "dummy" it? I seem to remember some kind of o2 'eliminator' diggamagigger.........

Somebody probably makes a "simulator" for rams. I have my eye on one for my 4runner if my code comes back. No emissions testing yet in the county i live in but i just cant stand knowing the cel is lit all the time. I have a code scanner that can clear the codes, but a simulator would prevent it indefinitely.

If you're gonna cut out the cat, don't spend $100 on a simulator, just use a non-fouler... (use the search)...

Seen the diy on that Hammer, love it- I guess that just keeps the o2 sensor out if the flow path and keeps it cooler? How do these things read anyway?

Yeah, I'm an oldschooler.

Ok replaced the sensor. Reset the pcm and no codes.

Found a wire coming out of the connector plug and fixed it. That may have been the problem but a new sensor never hurts. A nice little plus- she seems to have a better throttle response now and a little more 'get up'.

My pipes looked a little rich so in a few days I'm gonna change the plugs and see if she leaned out any.

Can anyone answer this: does the upstream affect mix? Might go ahead and change those too.

Yes that is what the upstream sensor does, it measures for adjustments to air/fuel. If you found a stray wire, that was probably the issue.

02 sensors don't change the way your engine run's, just reports how much knox and hydro carbons are coming out the engine so your state inspector can pass you, nothing more. You wont eat plugs or burn holes in pistons. this is a myth.
