Rear gate lock.
Hello,
2008 Dodge Ram Sport QC 4x4 Hemi.
I just had my new cover put on and noticed I have a lock on the tailgate. So I grab my keys and none of them go in or even turn the lock. Is there a special key that Dodge gave for the rear lock or did 1st owner replace the lock and forgot to give me the key for it.
I did see them for sale for pretty cheap and it comes with new keys.
So school me on this issue. Should one key start,open door and gate or there are separate keys.

Dodge didn't start putting locking tailgates on trucks until gen 4. It drives me nuts, but it's the way it is.
All aftermarket locks are just that, they require a special key. Chances are, you'll have to buy a replacement pop-lock or other and just put it in. They take about 10-20 mins to do.
