oil timer light???

Red face oil timer light???

does my 2008 ram 1500 with 4.7 have an oil timer light to say when the oil needs to be changed??? its not a big deal because i change it every 3000 or less anyway, i just havnt seen it come on and since ive put like 4000 miles on the truck i dont think it has one... thanks

Some of them did. I think all do now. Seems they "go off" prematurely.

Yes. It'll eventually go off at a preset mileage/time/average rpm's driven. it's all calculated in a complex algorithm within the pcm.
When it comes on, turn the key to run position(but dont start), let the oil light come on and when it does, press the gas pedal to the floor 3x's. Wait for the light to go out and then start the truck up. It'll be reset at that point.
My light didn't come on until after the 2nd time I changed the oil! First oil change was at 900miles and 2nd was at 3kmi. Oil light came on at 3800miles which was 1.5yrs after dealer had PDI'd it for sale.(Yes, i only drove it 3800 miles the first year and a half)

i really dont pay attention to it anyway i watch the mileage and if i do a lot of towing or interstate driving i change it sooner than 3000
