Default Hella 500 or 500ff

Im going to auto parts store later to get some to mount behind the grill. I something that shine far so I'm obviously getting the driving and not the fogs. I think the ff has a different lens but I can't find a definite answer on a bunch of forums. Everybody says something different. But my question is, which one would have a more focused beam that would shine farther?

The 500FFs have a broader coverage area whereas the 500s are more of a pencil beam and will extend out a bit farther. I have the FFs on my Grand Cherokee (used to be on my truck till I upgraded to a pair of 130 watt lights) and mounted a set of 500s on a buddy's truck. I find I like the FFs because it allows me to see a good bit off to the sides of the road - a big + in the deer infested rural area I'm in. His 500s shine a good bit farther down the road, but don't really allow you to see off the sides of it very far...
