Default 2006 MDS Problem

I have searched and not found a lot on this subject. Lately my truck has been surging while I try to keep one speed. The other day the check engine light came on. I unhooked to battery to clear the light to see if it was a one time thing. After a couple days it came back on. Stopped to have the code read and it said "cylinder disengagement system bank 1" or something very similar. I'm assuming this is my MDS acting up. What can I do. I've read about the MMO trick to clean up the oil or get a tuner to turn off the system. What are the odds that something is just blocked and not a solenoid gone bad? Does driving it while trying to figure this out hurt the engine? Thank in advance.

Try driving with the overdrive off and see if that makes it stop. That will tell you if its the MDS or not.

I've drove it a couple days with overdrive off and no problems. How exactly do I do the trick with mmo to clean up the oil?

Don't know about Marvel Mystery Oil to clean the oil. How long has that oil been in there? What is the viscosity?

Usually you add the MMO to the crankcase and driver it for a but and then change the oil. I personally dislike MMO though.

I wondered about that. What is going to "clean" the oil except the filter? Sounds like the Sea Foam treatment.
