Starts and Stops

I have a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500, V8-4.7 Liter. I tried starting my truck with the auto start to allow it to warm up. Its -2 right now!. I usually do not have a problem starting it in this condition. I heard my truck attempt to start but was not successful in turning on. I went out to my truck and tried it manually. When I turned the key, it at first did not want to start. Then after a few more tries it started up. Then it died right away. I did this a few more times. I pressed on the gas peddle and was able to keep it running. The minute I removed my foot, it stopped. So I started it again and left my foot on the gas for a good 5 minutes. Enough to where my engine gage was getting warmer. Then I released my foot from the gas and it stopped. I moved my truck into my garage, which was a pain!!! I bought a new battery and put it in my truck. I was able to start up my truck no problem. Then I moved it outside again. I woke up and it was like groundhog day. Same problem as before. I pressed on the gas and let it run for a little bit longer. Still was not able to remove the gas without it stopping. I went out and bought a Idle Air Control Valve as others posted as a possible solution. I went to my truck and to my surprise was able to start my truck up without a problem! I change the Idle Air Control Valve anyways. Have not had a problem yet. I remembered when I would take my truck to a car wash that my battery gage would go down. My truck would not die, but the gage would go down for a minute and go back to normal. It was like the steam was affecting something. Maybe a sensor or something. So I was thinking the alternator might be the problem. I checked it with a multimeter. Everything checked out fine. Not sure if the two are related or not. Otherwise truck runs great. Any ideals??? I will wait until morning before trying my truck again.
