Question about Monroe Quick-Struts
I am having a problem with my passanger side front strut. Somehow the spring perch retaining nut on the top as come loose so the shock has about 1/4" of up and down play in it. I am going to try and make a tool today to tighten it up while its still on the truck. If that wont work or the nut is rusted to the stud I am just going to replace the struts.
I was looking at the quick struts from Monroe. They are ~$230 shipped for the set vs ~$150 shipped for the pair of bare reflex struts. Does anyone know what struts come with the Quick Struts from Monroe?
I know the QS are $80 more, but if I get the bare reflex struts I have to buy a spring compressor tool ~$35. Also, I wont know how ****ty the upper mounting plates are on my current struts so I might need to change those as well ~$50/pair.... there goes the $80 saved.
I normally take advantage of saving a few bucks and being able to buy a new tool in the process(spring compressor), but honestly after fixing the rear diff myself, the water pump, now the shocks, and this truck being my only vehicle... I really feel like taking the easy way out on this one, lol. Hell, I even contemplated taking it to Midas to have the struts swaped out for me
What do you guys think?

1- They dont come assembled, I would need to transfer the springs and all hardware... plus if my hardware is shot I would need to buy new strut hardware aswell.
2- I dont feel like spending that much on a shock. I dont care too much about ride quality, I am just looking for a shock that will ride OK and last a good while... hopefully longer than the stockers.
3- I have no interest in leveling my truck
Do you have a part number for the quick struts for your application?
As far as I can tell, all of the Monroe QS come with their standard Reflex struts. Most likely better than stock, so you're good there. I also don't see any other MFG that offers the entire assembly like that, so Monroe may be your only option in this case.
Also, your vehicle info does not say if you have a 4x4 or not. Just so all bases are covered, struts can only be used on the '06+ 4x4.
