Default Torsion bars

I have a 2004 QC 1500 4x4. How do you properly adjust the torsion bars? Does the truck need to be on a lift? Or, can you simply adjust the bars on the ground?

Lift thw front off the ground. Don't try cranking with weight of truck on the bars. Bolt will likely snap. Search for torsion bar crank. Sure there's a video or tutorial online

There is a video here, skip the removal and just do the cranking part.

Basically as mentioned, you want to unload the suspension while cranking it up, also you will need an alignment and headlamp adjust as it states in the video.

The video Owensue posted a link to shows a leveling kit being installed. Yet, most everyone here says just crank the bolts and don't buy a kit. So, to do that, do you just lift the front end off the ground and start crankin'? Is there a certain number of turns or any formula to determine how much you are lifting for each turn and/or to determine how you have both sides equal? And, would swapping out the shocks for longer ones just help with the ride or would it also help prevent any extra stress or potential damage to the front end?

Yes there is a formula, 1/4 inch at the key = 3/4 inch lift.
In my comment I did say to skip the key removal and follow the tightening process.

Measure, lift, adjust, lower, drive, measure. Adjust again if needed.

Then alignment and headlights.

Yes, longer shocks can be added for ride comfort.

I'd recommend buying shocks that are 2" longer from what I've read.

You can get away with shock relocation brackets which reposition the factory shock, but factory shocks suck a$$, so I'd go ahead and replace...
