Default 2004 Hemi Running Cold?

Hello everyone. I have a 2004 1500 hemi. The truck is running good with no codes or any other issues. It seems that the truck does not want to heat up. I live in Texas so its not cold here. Today I ran the truck for a total or 10 miles one way. I let the truck warm up for 5 minutes before I got in to drive it. The 10 miles trip was highway miles at 75mph. I have attached at picture to show where the temp gauge is running. Its hard to know from this gauge what the temperature actually is? Any thoughts? The truck has had extensive preventative maintenance. As far as cooling maintenance, at 65k miles the truck had the thermostat, water pump, and a coolant flush. The truck now has 120k miles.

If the thermostat would to stick fully open, would it allow the truck to heat up to where it does now?

Thanks for the help

Sam

Stuck open would probably read lower than that. For a while I had a 180 'stat in mine. It ran lower than the reading you're getting. I wonder if someone put a 190 in yours. If the 'stat is original, I'd guess it's not closing completely.

mine runs in the same area on the gauge and my truck runs between 190-204 and it still doesn't hit the middle line. I have a programer and check and also I have used one of those lasers that check temp. it was in the normal range.

My 05 Hemi runs just a tad before the middle. It does'nt warm up for diddly squat sitting idling though, compared to how my older Dodges did.

My gauge reads only slighty higher than your picture. It runs to the middle, then the termostat opens and then goes down a bit. For the most part, the factory gauges are not the accurate (and the oil pressure works like an idiot light). Could also be the sending unit. If you are getting heat, and the needle is in the normal range, I would not worry about it.

You can always replace the (ECT) Engine Coolant Temp sensor also and see if that helps the gauge register

That's true, but as long as you can get heat out of the heater I wouldn't worry about it. My gauge stays lower than what your pic is showing because I have a 180* thermostat...
