first i have an 05 4.7L 1500 and the first thing that happened is when the truck is under load it cuts out at 2500 rpms like the ecm is cutting fuel and now new problem has arrived and now when the engine is running at idle in park it smells like its dumping fuel and at idle it does want to run, it acts like the egr valve is stuck open. i have replaced the tps and egr twice and these problems still exist.

second i have a an 06 4.7L 1500 and this problem has just started as of last night. when i was driving down the road to work i heard a loud metal on metal poping grindin sound up under the hood and when i first felt it i though i rand over an animal, but on my way back home i drove with the radio and air off and with the window down, and the sound i heard made me cringe. at first i want to think its something in the drive train but i did some searching and it sounds like the water pump could be taking a crap on me. i got under the hood and the water pump has just a little bit of play in it.

well on the 05 1500 i just unhooked the battery for a few minutes and then hooked it back up and fired up the truck and let it run for a few minutes and then check the codes and P0406 came up so i guess its time for a 3rd egr. only if there was a way to block it off or program it out.

 

They make EGR block off plates but the last EGR I bought was like 45 +/-

Plus guys who has used block off plates all noted worse mileage

 

yea i just found an egr at autozone for 37 bucks with lifetime warranty

 

update old egr was stuck open and now got it replaced but i dropped the new one and broke the plastic off where the harness clips and lock on. so i had to zip tie it but as its sits the 05 4.7 its back up and running.
