I just bought a 2007 Hemi Mega Cab 1500 4x4 and was trying to turn off the horn honk when using the remote to lock the door. I followed the manual to the letter and it will not work. Every other option from the FOBIK i can do. After using the search function of the forum I have discovered that the dealer can change the settings with the starscan tool, which leads to my other questions. What else has been confirmed that can be done with the tool? I have read enough to know if it was an available option on the truck and you add it later you may need to visit the dealer to have it flashed so the vehicle recognizes it.

I have read so far that if it involves a setting with the FOBIK they can change it. Daytime running lights are possible, Operating the wipers turns on the lights. What else can be done? I plan on making an appointment and would like to maybe have a better idea of what I want done for the 1/2 hour labor they will charge to hook it up.

 

I have aftermarket alarm that I can change the horn honk through, but I have successfully disabled the horn honk through the process in the user manual as well! If I remember, I had to stand outside and hold the lock/unlock buttons or something like that??
If you dont have fogs and are planning on adding some, have them turn on the fogs.

Also, daytime running lights sets the pcm to an international setting which will allow fogs to stay on with high beams(export mode)
The dealer can disable mds(although most won't) but you can deisable it through a tuner as well.

You can add uconnect or change the radio out and have them enable the coded communication for the specific unit, but you dont have that stuff. There's lots of different things thy can do, but it's basic for a stock truck.

Local dealers around here in NY charge a minimum of 1hr diagnostics fee even if they spend 15min on the job. Your lucky if they have a 1/2hr minimum.

A quick search on the internet also shows options that can be enabled/disabled through starscan tool that are specific to your applications. BUT, there are no Freeor hidden mods if that's what your looking for. besides the fogs staying on w/high beams.

 

• Place the key in ignition and turn the key to the ON position (do not start the engine).
• Press and hold the UNLOCK button on the transmitter for four to ten seconds.
• While the UNLOCK button is pressed, press the LOCK button on the transmitter and then release both buttons.
• You will hear a single chime when programming is completed.
• To enable the feature again, follow the above steps.

You can also change a lot of features such as this if you have the EVIC overhead module.

 

Best person to ask about the Starscan is the dealer but even they are likely not fully aware of all it can enable on the truck unless they play with it
