Summitracing.com Jegs.com and about any other truck or auto supply can sell you a gauge and about a half dozen mounting options. For gauge brands, i like Autometer. They have more options in sizes, styles and color then anybody else by far and the quality is top notch.

For pods, you have A Pillar mounts, steering column mounts, dash mounts, single cups, headliner mounts, in dash mounts and more. Summit carries all of them

The last issue is where you will mount the electric sender that sends the signal to the gauge. The absolute best place to mount it to really know how hot your tranny is running is the cooler line that goes from the tranny to the cooler. They make special in-line mounts for the senders that splice into the cooler line. About $40 but well worth it.

I bought an SRT A-pillar from the dealer for I wanna say it was around $35 (but I usually get things for a little over cost - so I dunno what retail is), bought just a cheap temp gauge at Advance for like $16 (which matches the stock gauges about as close as you can get) and simply tapped the test port on the pan.
Now I'll agree with NV290 that the best place to measure would be right at the cooler line rather than the fluid in the pan, but there's not gonna be a big difference and I had what I needed to thread the pan and didn't have to buy anything.

I like that SRT pod, but you need to know you only want a single before you buy it lol.

Just because, but the Diablo Trinity has many gauges on it and tunes as well. You can even make your own layouts and change the gauge look. I found one problem leaving it mounted. I left mine on the glass and it got hot, fell off, and now it won't stick lol.

Autometer has Dodge factory match white face gauges that are an exact match, even the same backlighting. But thier Phantom series is close too. But definatley not as cheap as Sunpro.

Actually, the difference is quite large. I learned all this on my 01.5 Ram and when i was on the TDR Forum. I had put the sender in the pan and then while having my exhaust done at Jannetty Racing they told me to put it in the return line. So we did it while the truck was there. Two major differences. In the cooler line, you can see the temperature rise instantly. Even by just flooring it. And then you can watch the temperature drop down again when you let off the gas. In the pan mounted version, you would see the rise much later and much more slowly, because you were reading the fluid after it went through the cooler(s) and then mixed with the other fluid already cooling in the pan. A pan reading is fine if you just want the "average" temp. Because again, it's fluid that has already gone through the cooler and is sitting in the pan further cooling down rapidly. It was often a difference of 20-30 degrees and again, the speed of how fast the temp was rising and falling made a difference.

What i did see that was very slick was a guy on the forum had a sender in the pan AND the cooler line with a switch to go back and forth. He had the same setup for his EGT, pre and Post turbo.
