Talking Brake issues. And thanks.

First off I wanna say thank you to JusJay, DirtyDog, Hammer, and any of the other guys I might have forgotten that helped me out over the last two months with questions. Just so you know that in the end I did just complete all my upgrades. Below is what I put on.

1. BELLTECH STREET PERFORMANCE SHOCK
2. MCGAUGHYS 2/4.5 DROP
3. EBC GREEN STUFF BRAKE PADS

Now some technical questions.

A. When I brake there is a whistle/squealing sound, what makes that and how does it go away ?

B. I am thinking of putting a tuner on the truck, what are a few you recommend ?

I have had a random squeak since i put the slotted rotors and ceramic pads on my truck. Its only an intermittant noise amd only happens once in a while, but wasnt there before. I think it has to do with the ceramic pads. Its only the drivers rear that does it.

try putting disk brake quiet on the back of the brake pads. I've heard of some people using grease on the anti-rattle clips as well.

I listened very close today. And yeah it pretty freaking annoying. The break pads which are the GREENSTUFF squeal terrible. It almost sounds like someone who needs a new break job. The really squeal. i have never encountered that before with dodge breaks, or pepboys or whoever. I upgrade to supposedly really good pads and they sound horrible. When does this break in period stop ? Also whats the input on performace tuners, I was thinking the VIVID LINQ.

A simple fix. Remove the calipers and pads. Look carefully at the pads & insides of calipers. Take note of any shiny spots where the pad is contacting the caliper. Take anti-sieze and apply a thin layer on all of the areas where contact is occuring. The squeal is caused by high frequency vibration caused by rubbing at these areas. A light coat is all that's needed. Don't forget the point where the piston hits the back side of the pad also you know the metal clip? Well I removed it and I put grease on BOTH sides of it. This has successfully stopped any squealing on my truck.
Another old trick is to bevel the edges of the pad. Grind a 45 degree bevel halfway through the thickness of the pad at the leading & trailing edges.

Pictures are soon to come. But I am still looking for information regarding performance tuners and what you guys think of the VIVID LINQ ? And through some research I have found that many people say the 6000 pads squeal through about 500 miles worth of break in. Which I do find bizarre because with OEM pads there is no break in. I have never had squealing with mopar, or raybestos. Yet with EBC which is supposed to be a upgrde to your OEM pads they squeal, so annoying. And besides the pad issues, and performance tuner opinions, what are opinions on putting in the little magnaflow Y pipe ? I dont understand the benefit of that little $25 piece.

Thanks,

M.W.
