Why brake cleaner? Can't I just use the can of carb. cleaner I already have in the garage?

I used CRC Throttle Body Cleaner. I of course took the Throttle Body off the engine and then using a rag and the cleaner cleaned all the sludge off it. I made sure to always hold the Throttle body with the motor facing up so the cleaning solvent would not seep into the motor housing.

I also bought a new gasket ahead of time so i could replace it before putting the throttle body back on. Cheap insurance against issues later on. And i grounded the Throttle body when i reinstalled it as well.

Chrysler issued a TSB years ago saying DO NOT use carb cleaner or TB cleaner - non-chlorinated brake cleaner only.

Any link this this TSB? Before i did the cleaning i searched this forum for "Throttle Body Cleaning" and all i come out with was threads and posts about people cleaning theirs but nobody made any mention as to what they used to do it.

In any event, i did mine a week ago and it's fine. As i mentioned, i made sure to always keep the motor side up so nothing could get inside. And this stuff evaporates in seconds, so their is no issue with residue dripping onto things.

I use Sea Foam. And I found it yesterday at NAPA in spray form.

It's in the 2004 TSBs, as I recall.
