no compression
Hello gang, I have a few questions to ask. I was driving on a mud road in my 08 ram 2500 5.7 the other night and when I got back on the main road I heard a popping noise. Right after I heard that I lost my power steering and I continued to drive being I wasnt far from home. I made it about a mile and a half and it died on me. I got it to one side of the road and went and got it the next morning and had it towed to the dodge place here locally and they just called and said besides the power steering pump I dont have any compression either. Take in mind that I was constantly checking my gauges and I wasnt over heated by them I was the average that I always am while driving, right in the middle. Can anyone give me a explanation or a good guess of why have no compression. I'm not hard on this truck , but I do take the dirt road sometimes. Also it has 69k miles on it.
Thanks to all that can help !

Cause showing u yave no compression is a sign of mechanical failure. Cant b sure what caused the loss of compression if a seat fell out or it broke a valve spring. Now did u lose compression in one cylinder or all?
So the tech did not advise on which has no compression. Did he do a compression test? Maybe pull the valve covers to look at the springs and make sure the push rods are seated.
How does it start during the day (hot start) vs cold mornings?

Hey gang, well I found out that my engine is gone. one of my valves was melted. The crazy thing though is I never had any warning signs, no high temp on the dash or anything. I'm getting remanufactured motor quotes as we speak, but it looks like that dirt road is gonna cost me about 5 grand, ouch, lol. I'm trying to keep good spirits, what else can you do?
