Default O2 Sensors

Hello all, I had an issue with hard stgarting while warm and replaced a Fuel Injector. Ever since, it seems my MPG has dropped. I verified it was the correct injector just to be sure.

I was wondering what the life is on the O2 sensors. I have never changed them nor had issue with them. I like to change them as more of a maintenance item and replace them at 100,000 miles at the latest, but Since there are 4 I havent done so yet. The truck has 146000 on it.

What are some opinions on the life and change interval? Has anyone had any fail?

Estimated serviceable life of an O2 is 100,000 miles after which time they will degrade and can often cause driveability issues even though not being bad enough to generate a CEL.

I have 104k on my Grand Cherokee and probably need to do mine. I was about to do them an a bunch of maintenance stuff at the turn of the new year, but the place I was working decided to go into receivership about two weeks before my radiator decided to split at the seam. So obviously, for the time being my maintenance is going to be cut to just the absolutely necessary ones and mods are going to be pretty much non-existent until things turn around a bit...

How big of a job is it to do yourself? I understand you just use a special socket to remove and install them and the ones post Cat are easy to get to. But what about the two primary ones? Anything need to be removed to access them? Any special concerns? And is thier a certain brand worth buying and/or avoiding? I just hit 102,000 so maybe I should plan on doing mine. My mileage is ok, but if its due soon, may as well.

I took a long peek under the truck and all 4 seem pretty accesible to me. It doesnt seem to be any issues as far as I can tell. They are 4 wire and there are 2 precat and 2 post cat with different part numbers. Precat Bosch 13869 25.99 Each - PostCat Bosch 15510 23.99 each.

I never used the special wrench. I use a regular wrench and take extra precaution due to the conditions of the exhaust.

I just ordered them from amazon, but they have them at auto zone too.

Just picked up all 4 at Auto Zone. Same Bosch part numbers you mention.

I would like to try and throw them in tommorow afternoon. Ill try and get some pics and some blow by blow details if anything needs to be adressed. I figure it's always good to have detailed step by step instructions on the forum for others.

You as well.

I am planning on doing this with the truck on the ground. Crossing my fingers i will need to jack it up. But the ground clearence should be fine to do this.
