Default Get aux out of radio.

Hey!

I have a Dodge Ram 1500 2006 with the 6 disc stereo.

Is there a way to get a 3.5mm wire to connect like an iPhone or mp3 player in there?

I mean connect on the back or use something to make it work

Thanks...

If your changer is external, you may have to lose it to get a decent ipod adapter. Well worth the trade in my opinion. The adapter kits typically plug into the external cd changer port on the back of the factory head unit. There are other ways to run a line for an ipod but the sound quality is usually not as good and it doesnt provide power to keep the unit charged up. Make sure you get an adapter that is compatible with your specific radio. The one i have charges the ipod and allows ipod control from the steering wheel controls. The unit in the link above does not.

no the one i linked to is pretty basic, just splits to 2 rca's, no charging or anything like that haha. I don't even know if this will work with our decks with the 6 disc changers, i had my dash all apart today and should have popped it out quick to see if it has the same plug but I didn't. I think it should be the same though, I can't see them wiring the trucks different depending on which head unit is going to be put in it.

Do you have a link to the adapter you are talking about 04HemiGreg? I would be interested in it, although I'm not sure if i'd like giving up my 6 disc changer. I know i know, who uses CD's these days but I actually like it.. they give better sound quality in the truck than anything else I've tried.

Lyndo, I have a 2004. Don't remember my radio code but it has a cassette player and single CD player. Below is a link to the newer version of the adapter I have. But for the RAM, it says it's only good up through 2005 models. I'm sure there are similar ones out there that work with newer RAMs.

With a good ipod adapter, to me a CD changer is no longer needed. These adapters make your playlists look like big-*** CD's and they keep your ipod charged and allow you to control via the steering wheel just like you would a CD changer. With the capacity of an ipod compared to 6 CD's, no need to have both.
