Default cv axle leaking

The boots are intact, but there's always a build-up where the cv meets the stub shaft. I know that its not gear oil (it has no smell and is too thick). Must be the little cap in there came loose and is allowing lube to pass by.

My question is: how hard is it to replace the cv on an 07 1500? 3 beer job, or should I spring for the 24 pack?

I have the 06 FSM, but my research tells me that dodge made some changes to the cv and stub shaft assembly in 07.

Cannot speak for an 07' as i have an 06' But i had BOTH front axles changed the same day and my truck was done in about 2 hours. Granted they had a lift and air tools. So i am sure that speeds things up.

I know the complete axles boots and all are less then $100 as well.
