Default 2005 ram 1500 driver's door lock broke

I have power locks, and they seem to work for all the doors but the driver's door. in order to get in I have to use the key and hold it in the open position while I pull the door handle.
Took it to a dealer, and $500 later thay had no idea what to do. It took the mechanica 10 minutes to figure out how to even open the door!
The fuses look fine, and the wiring harness does not show enough wear to be a problem.
Has anyone else heard of this problem?

There's not much to a power lock system. Verify that the power is actually getting to the actuator motor - which would also prove that it's not a broken wire inside the door wiring harness. You said that wiring harness doesn't show wear... but did you pull the rubber boot back and look at all the wires inside. It's a very common problem to have broken wires in those harnesses. If electrical is fine then it's just the actuator that's bad, or possible the latch mechanism itself.
I would have thought that even a dealership could have replaced all those parts for less than $500. Look in the FAQ section for a thread that has all the service manuals so you can check it out yourself.

Yeah, you either have a broken wire in the rubber boot from the door or a bad latch assembly. Both are common issues and failures
