Default Crankshaft question related to bad knock...

A couple weeks ago, I was on the highway and my oil pressure dropped. I pulled over and the engine stalled and wouldn't restart until after about 40 minutes of sitting. It was very low on oil so I put 4qts in it and limped it home and it tried to stall every time I came to a stop. There was a little noise, but it wasn't bad.

I took the oil pan off and checked the main bearings and didn't find any spun bearings so I put it back together neglecting to check the rod bearings. Sitting in the driveway it idled fine but if I took it around the block, there was a definite noise that progressively got worse. Last time it ran, it sounded like there was something bouncing around in the oil pan.

Today, I took it apart again and found that the rod bearings on the rear two cylinders are done. They're still there, but definitely spun and worn as if they had tried to turn sideways in the rods. Very weird.

Anyhow, the journal seems to have a ridge such that the middle of the journal is a high point and it slopes down and away from the center of the journal. My question is, and I'm pretty sure I already know the answer, is that slope supposed to be there? I'm fairly certain that it's not and that at the very least, I need to pull the engine and have the crank ground, but was hoping that it's supposed to be that way and that it uses special tapered bearings from the factory... A guy can dream, can't he?

you guessed right. Once the bearings spin, you need to resize rod ends and reman crank
