Default Check Engine Light Reset

The check enging light came on this week, really bad timing because I am trading my 2006 Dodge Ram 5.7 for a 2012 Dodge Ram 5.7 in a couple of days. It was a P0406 code (through the key trick) that a simple EGR cleanout fixed. Now, the trouble code is gone, but the light stays on. I don't have the time or the money right now to get a code reader for a vehicle I am trading in and disconnecting the battery didn't work. Is there any other "trick" out there to clear the check engine light?

Take it to autozone, advance auto, oreillys, or some other place. They will let you use their scanners for free. Just tell em you have a check engine light on and want to scan for codes. Then just use the tool to delete em.
