Hi db, any update on this? My truck is doing the same exact thing. It's the same year with the same mileage.

For those still interested, it was the upstream o2 sensors that were causing the misfires. I changed them last week, but I wanted to be sure they were indeed the problem.

Next paycheck I will change the downstream sensors as well.

I hope this helps others in the future.

HA!!!! I just noticed I spelled random wrong in the thread title!

I have the same problem. I've done the plugs and wires. I also tried cleaning the throttle body (which was really dirty) based on other posts here. I still have the same problem though. This weekend it just threw a code for an upstream O2 sensor. I'll be replacing it this weekend.

I just changed the plugs 100 miles or so ago and after clearing the misfire code it hasnt came back but when i first crank my truck it stumbles and shoots the RPM's up a couple hundred revs.

It'll cost you $80.00 and a little bit of time with a 7/8" wrench to find out. :-)

For what it's worth, mine also stumbled and raced at start-up. It doesn't do that anymore.

As I stated above, I waited a week before posting to be sure the problem was fixed. So far so good.

I have no idea which one was causing the issue because I changed them both, but if I had to guess it would be the driver's side (Bank 1).

I wish i could just get a O2 code lol!! Luckily I have a O2 Wrench so it will be even easier but its just a matter of spending the money to find out if its the problem. A couple of things to add to the problem is my MPGs have been terrible lately (Usually Get atleast 15 on the highway and now i cant seem to get over 12) and its smells like shes running as rich as she can get to! Can you relate to any of that?

My MPGs did go down, but not that much. I was getting about 15.5 mpg when I got it the truck. (according to that overhead display) It was down to 13.5 mpg.
It's now back up to almost 16 mpg. I have no idea how accurate that is, though.
I remember when it idled, yeah, it seemed rich. I honestly haven't looked at the exhaust since I changed them. I'll take a look this afternoon and let you know.

They say the overhead is fairly close. I figure its math is better than mine. But i also dont drive more than 3 miles of highway so its probally not getting a chance to reach the good MPGs But its still way off from when i first got the truck and i know its rich and runs goofy at the start up, so i guess ill look into some o2s.

To everyone that is changing there o2 sensor! Only use mopar o2 sensors! I had the same problem 3 years ago with mine. Don't use anything else! I blew through $300 in bausch and some napa brand and neither one would work. I finally went to the dealer and got a mopar one and its been fine ever since.
