Default Hypertech Programmer Results for 2005 Ram

Well, I got my programmer back from hypertech yesterday whom which had to correct a program to work with my truck.

It installed no problem last night so whatever they updated worked.

I have it set at the "91" Octane Tune, 128mph Limiter, and I raised the RPM limiter by 100 (to start).

I have to be honest...I dont really notice a difference in the way the truck drives.

How have you with the hypertech set your options??? Anyone with an 05 ram that has postive experience with them and what did you set your options at.

I know several people who have done this type of modifications to similar vehicles. Not the hemi but other truck brands. No difference in the driving. The one truck that I know two people saw a difference in were diesel Ford's. I think they are a waste unless all you want to do is to alter your shift points.

Why leave a speed limit? Does it not offer an option to eliminate it entirely? IF not, why bother?

As has been noted, it does not seem the '05 gasoline-powered Rams leave much room for aftermarket putzying with the electronics.

I bought a Hypertech for one of my cars so I could reprogram the speedometer for different sized tires, then didn't need to. Despite the performance hype by the company most who get that version tend to just use it to change automatic shift points or the speedo. Few ever report noticeable power increases. Mine's still on the shelf in the shop somewhere. Had no other use for it since my car is a stick.

Keep us informed as to your experience.

Thanks.

Well....after another day of driving with it....there is a "tiny" torque increase at lower rpms....the truck is a tad bit more jumpy to the throttle.

Took the truck to 110 without hesitation today so the limiter increase worked.....and the rpms are redlining at around 5700-5800 now so my rpm increase worked.

After I add headers and some new valve springs/rockers....im gonna raise the rpms an addition 200rpm.

BTW...the speed limiter options are either STOCK....116mph....or 128mph.

This truck is very capable of hitting around 120mph stock.....but even modified I wouldnt say its good for anything over 130mph so theres no sense in NO limiter as it wouldnt matter anyway.....the only time this truck would do more than 120-125mph is with over 2 miles of flat road and nothing in your way.
