Default Evaporator replacement

Hi All,
This is my first post so be kind. I have a 2002 Ram 1500 5.9L and my A/C does not work (heat does work). Dealer said Evaporator needs to be replace and want .... $1050 to replace! This is crazy. I do a lot of work and will tackel the job myself. My questions are:

Where to get the Evaporator? Factory or aftermarket brands (such as 4-seasons, spectra, crown, etc). I know price is factor. Any online retailor recommendations?

Other than the core, what other parts will I need? (seals, contentors, etc)
Is there a kit with these parts.

Also, if I have to do the compressor also, same questions as above.

I already have the manual so good there. I need the specical ac tool to disconnect so will have to get that.

Any advise appreciated.

Thanks,
Anthony.

You can click the links below in my signature to download the Service Manual on how to take out and replace but keep in mind you will have to discharge the system (freon) and will have to pay a shop to recharge it in most cases.

The evaporator is in the hvac box behind the dash near the heater core. The whole dash has to come out to get to it. Plan to replace the heater core too if you can swing it because tearing into your truck that far just once is enough.
