Default Cut my exhaust tips off

I have a 08 ram hemi and it has flowmaster exhaust and it had magnflow rolled tips on it which i didn't like because I have a flowmaster muffler. The tips on it were really short and I didn't like the look of the short tips. So I cut them off where the pipe started to turn down over the rear axle. Now that I have did that it is not even loud anymore. It has a lot louder idle but not when I take off. I know I wont have the sound that you get with the tips but I figured cutting them off would make it louder. So my question is what if I just cut everything off and have nothing right after the muffler? My friend has that on his 08 f150 and its pretty loud but I don't want to do it if its not good for my truck.

Less pipe is usually louder, how the end of the exhaust points makes a difference in how loud the truck is in the cab. If I were you I'd ditch that flowmaster muffler for something with more flow, read in the DIY/FAQ section about mufflers.

Cutting the pipe shorter and right behind the muffler isnt going to hurt anything. Will it make it louder? Sure, just like said above when it come to having a shorter pipe. Will you like it? We dont know. Thats for you to decide.

I wouldn't want to sit idling in it if you cut off exhaust under truck. I know of a guy who went to work early one cold mourning sitting in his truck before work opened , they found him to late

Wouldn't it be easier to just scrap the muffler all together and run a set of chambers to the back????? Thats near straight pipe configuration.

ya im sure it would be easier but I dont want to spend the extra money on exhaust unless I absolutely have to. If its not gonna hurt anything then I might try and do it and see how it sounds and if it sounds like crap ill just spend the extra money then. Thanks for your help guys. More input is greatly appreciated and let me know if you have done this before

Thanks
Cody

Ive got dual cutouts and no cats and never an issue. No offense but I think for something like that to happen you almost would have to want for it to happen.
