Default Painting exhaust?

Hey fellas, I was just thinking.. I noticed my exhausted has gotten a bit.. orange? You can say. Well I've got a can of some black gloss rust o olem spray and some clear. Would it be a good idea to paint it? Or will it just end up peeling? Hah!

You have to use high temp paint or it will burn off. Also get rid of any rust or is will bubble under it.

Orange? Not my first choice

I didn't mean to paint it orange LOL. The exhaust itself is a bit of a dark orange. It doesn't look like rust. But, I'm just not sure about painting it. I heard people using high temp paint and it'll flake off.

As with painting anything, the surface has to be clean, rust, scale, oil, grease free. When my exh was welded up I quickly painted the welds (before rust could start) and being I had so much left over in the cans, i painted the pipes minus the headers. That was a long time ago and the paint is still here. I will say I used BBQ grill flat black paint though.

I just plan on painting 4ft of the exhaust pipe underneath the bed of the truck. I'm not sure how much heat that gathers at the end
