Exclamation 5.9 misfire

I have a 2002 Ram 1500 with the 5.9 gas engine. My #2 cylinder misfires causing a very rough idle and poor performance. I replace the plug and it's fine for about a month then starts to misfire again. Depending on how long I leave the plug in sometimes there is oil fouling and other times there is not. The plug wire boot is also burned at the end. Does anyone have any idea what causes this and what can be done to fix it?

How long has it been since you did an ignition tune up? If its been a while, I would start by replacing ALL of your Wires. I would also check the Cap and rotor for any burn mark or deterioration, If so then replace both.

you'll be better served over in the second gen board..

dig out the wire routing TSB in the faq section...

look for rec'd plugs.. (our trucks like copper and not fancy metals)

check your plenum gasket for loss of integrity..

there is a ton of help waiting for you over there.
