Outside Temp reads -40 and then it works normally
from time to time, my outside temp will read -40 which usually means its a bad outside temp sensor. I replaced it last week, NEW from the dealer and it will still read -40 every once in a while and then it will start working and slowly go from -40 to current temp, whats the problem?

Viking,
There was a TSB related to this issue. Perhaps it could help with your problem. See below.
NUMBER: 08-026-06 REV. A
GROUP: Electrical
DATE: October 25, 2006
SUBJECT:
Flash: Overhead Console Temperature Reading Inaccurate Or Dome Lamp Turns Off Too
Soon
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves selectively erasing and reprogramming the Cabin Compartment
Node (CCN) with new software.
MODELS:
2006 (DR/DH/D1) Ram Truck
NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles built on or before May 30, 2006 (MDH
0530XX).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The vehicle operator may notice that if a vehicle door is left open for longer than 20
seconds the illuminated interior (dome) lamps will turn off.
The vehicle operator may describe that the ambient temperature first displayed in the
overhead console is not accurate (displays -40°C or -40°F), when the ignition switch is
turned to the “On” position, then slowly updates to the outside ambient temperature as the
vehicle is driven.
NOTE: DO NOT reprogram the CCN if the overhead displayed temperature stays at
the -40°C (-40°F) reading after driving the vehicle for MORE THAN 3 minutes
and at speeds greater than 32 Km/h (20 mph). Check the system for an open
circuit condition.
This is not a fix by flash or reprogram. Download the service manual from the link in my signature and use it to find your program and let it guide you on how to resolve. IDK any other way unless you want to go to the dealer
