Tyre pressures for Michelin LTX's
Hi
I tow a car trailer every day weighing in at about 7000 pounds.
I have a 2004 1500 4x2 r/c hemi on the 20" rims, i have just bought some Michelin LTX tyres to replace the Wrangler HP's which i got 50,000 towing miles out off (not bad i thought but hope for more out the LTX's??)
Anyone use their truck for similar purposes with the same tyres??? if so what pressures you runing??? the same as manufacturer suggests for the Wrangler HP????????
Thanx

Just remember that the Max Load on the tire is at Max PSI. I'd prolly run near max PSI to get better wear characteristics. You can alter the PSI to get the best combo of handling, wear, ride, etc without the load, but with that much weight on them, I'd stick to near max on the tire. Just be sure to check it when it is COLD, not hot. Best of luck. Also, how is the Hemi holding up with the towing and that high mileage, any problems?
Hi
Thanx for your advice, i always measure tyre pressures when cold to get a proper reading, will experiment
around the 35psi mark as thats what i ran the wrangfler HP's at, just want to get the max life out of them!!
The Hemi is goin well, it tows the weight so easily especially compared to a 2003 LandRover Discovery TD5 that we use to have, sometimes it needs winding up but i have no complaints whatsoever, very pleased with it. It has done 53 000 miles in 8 months and has been great. The only problem we have had was witha dodgy injector which turned out to be the wiring into the injector.
Probably just given it the kiss of death now!!!!!
