Default No Bus code on odometer, gauges still work though.

First and foremost I'm no mechanic and I don't know much about electrical so thats why I'm here. So, yesterday I left work and the truck ran fine, went to the gym and came out to start my truck and no dice. No Bus on the odo. I've read people having this issue but their gauges weren't firing up at all. All my gauges work, but the darn thing wouldn't start. So after checking some forums, I took a look inside the steering column area and found the little guy below just dangling there. I have no idea what that part is. So I searched for its home and plugged it back in. Only to my disappointment it wouldn't fire up. Not even a click out of the ignition. So I got under there and inspected it while in its home and it was pretty loosey goosey in there. I'm not sure how it fell out in the first place, maybe because it was like 110 degrees? Either way, the SOB won't fire up with it in its proper place. Is it possibly the part itself or just its housing? Anyway, the truck is still hanging out in the parking lot because I'm not getting it towed if I can fix this for like 50 bucks myself. Any help would be apprecaited! Oh, a side note, when locking/unlocking the truck with my fob, the lights wouldn't flash nor would the horn honk. Any correlation?
