Where did you bought old steering column (I'm from Slovenia, Europe)? I also don't wanna try and repair my active one, because I use truck pretty much every day...

Did anyone replaced any other U-joints on steering column like ever or it's this just thing we have to be used to...?
I had the same problems at about 20k miles. Dealer couldn't figure it out so I had to drive the tech around to reproduce the noise. Clunking noise in certain turns (driveways, etc...) that could be felt in the petals and wheel. Dealer replaced the intermediate steering column when the discovered the u-joint had failed. Problem solved.

Here I am again!
As I am researching the web nearly on a daily basis, I am getting more and more to a deadend. If I review nearly all post over the web about loose steering I neeeeeever found anyone beein suspicious about the joint behind the steering wheel hub.
Is it even possible that this join has some play in it?
I mean, as mentioned, when I hold the upper part of the joint near the pedals on the intermediate shaft with my hands as tight as possible and move the steering wheel with the other hand and encounter some play, could this still come from somewhere else?
Another solution might be getting a used steering column for my model in the US for about 100+ Dollars and give it a try to replace it!?!

And finally it seems some people were right and I was wrong.
After founding myself in a shop where they care about people, they hopped into my RAM with 3 people and turned the wheel and did this and that.
Finally they said "Here you go. This rubber/plastic filled thing is worn out.

I mentioned to them that I think it comes from the joint behind the wheel and they said no, as there is no car in the world with a 100% direct steering as it wouldn't be drivable.

Here is a picture of the part which is also "clunking" around as this nut is bouncing against the metal.

No the solutions seems to be a Borgeson Steering Shaft!
Anyone sell one to me or knows where to get (Shipping must be to Germany)

As I mentioned before, the dealer replaced mine (with an OE part, of course). I've been experiencing similar symptoms again at 42000 miles :-/ I can make the thing wobble at the u-joint from inside the driver's side wheel well. The following link will take you to KLM Performance in Connecticut, USA. They will ship international, and this is the best price I have found so far, so I'll be buying it from them soon. According to their policies, VAT, duties, import taxes, etc. are not collected by them and will be handled by the delivery company in Deutschland. I hope it works well for you. Viel Glück!
