Default Tranny Problem??????

I have a 07 1500 5.7 which has a cold air intake and superchips programmer. The programmer is set on the fuel econ mode with MDS off. Over the past 2 weeks or so I have noticed that the tranny doesnt want to stay in 6 gear. If it goes to 6th as soon as you put it under a load which would be a small hill it jumps to 4th then 5th. I have noticed at 60 mph its running about 2000-2100 RPM which it didnt do until now. It is almost like it is stuck in 5th. Serviced tranny about 4-5 month ago with ATF+4, where it ran great until a week or so ago. Anything any of you all could think that cause this before I take it to be looked at.

Well considering that you only have a 5 speed transmission I'd say you got a definite problem.LOL.
Put your truck back to a stock tune and see if the problem still exists and go from there.

I bought my Hemi with 120000 miles on it and not 3 months later i was rebuilding the tranny with some of your symptoms, I recomend building a stronger tranny or something, Alls i had on mine when it went was a DIY CAI and now that ive moved on to bigger mods im afriad that im going to be rebuilding it again. (Still Seems Strong tho)But a shift kit, HD Trans Cooler, And a Tranny Line Booster are a must with or with out mods IMO

pull the postive cable off your battery for a few minutes. turn key to the accessory on position while the battery is disconnected. Make sure its good and dead.

this will reset the pcm so it will be forced to learn everything all over again.

see if it still acts wonky and/or flash back to your stock tune.

if none of that resolves the issue then you may have a problem with the transmission.

but you need to find out if the computer is choosing 4th gear for a reason or if the transmission is physically unable to maintain 5th.

By chance, are you running the Superchips trans tune with the tuner also?

No trans tune. I have the MDS off. Its not shifting hard and the trans oil looks good on the stick.. Its just like it wont stay in high gear and it turning more RPM's than it was doing 1 month ago... Just put it on stock mode last night to try that but i think it wont be a true test since now the mds is on.

it won't screw up your tune as that parts stored in nonvolatile memory. in other words you don't have to flash to stock first.

disconnect the battery first and see how it performs. if its still acting up THEN take your tuner and flash back to stock. then take it for another test drive.

this will let you narrow down the issue.

Update...... Put stock tune on and couldnt tell if that helped or fixed it due to MDS kicking in and out. Put back on econ mode and everything seems to be back to normal. Running great. Now the only question is what would cause the program to change or act up like that??????
