Can't tell from the pic, but are those AMP power steps? I was going to say that removing the step bars would create an illusion of more lift/ground clearance, but if they are retractable it already covers that. It just looks like the way my steps sit when they are extended.

Second, my (unsolicited) vote is for smaller wheels (17") with more sidewall. Again, that will put a more meaty and aggressive aesthetic, as well. Getting a thousand dollars back is a pretty tempting thought...
