Default 4 inch bds lift

Hey guys , happy Sunday lol
I have a 4 inch bds in a 04 1500 sitting on 35s
Anyways long story short, the shop ordered the wrong size lift put in a 4 inch instead of the 6 I ordered.
Have been advised that the 6 is only about half inch higher than where I'm sitting now with the 4 and level kit.
I'm sitting at 43.5 from road to top of wheel and the owner of the shop has a six inch pro comp in a 04 and he's sitting at 43 with 37s.
Now they've acknowledged there screw up etc, said they will change out the parts that are dif to make it the 6 inch orrrr return the labour (1000) and I keep the 4 inch.
Another option is to put a 3 inch bl on it as well, which they will install for free so I can achieve the lift I'm after.
I'm trying to find out how high a six inch lift should be on my truck from wheel well to ground and if I'm being advised correctly.
So any advice or input would be greatly appreciated
Thx in advance

The shop is kinda right about the 6" lift. The only 6" lift for the torsion front IFS Rams that actually lifts a true 6" is the Skyjacker. The others lift anywhere from 4 1/2" to 5" and require you to crank the torsion bars up to get to a true 6".

Personally, I think 4" is about the max you should go with the IFS trucks and still retain decent CV axle angles anyway. Much over that and the CVs weaken considerably. There are many guys who are on their 2nd or 3rd set of CV axles who went higher and actually used their trucks as trucks.

The 4" suspension plus 3" body is a viable alternative since the BL doesn't increase any suspension angles. Just be advised that those CVs are pretty damn thin and the stock front end components are stressed pretty good even with 35" tires, 37s add considerably more weight and put a good bit more stress on components while turning than a smaller tire.

IMO your stronger at 4" of lift with 35s than you are higher with larger tires, but if you are just going for "looks" then do the body lift and 37s but be prepared to replace components and especially the rack & pinion much sooner. Another alternative would be to simply crank the front bars up SPARINGLY, put taller blocks in the rear and you'll clear 37s (which mostly actually measure around 35.5" anyway) and call it a day.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, IMHO if you want 37"+ tires on a truck, then you really should have purchased a SFA (2500/3500) truck. Look at the axle diameter of a 2500 (9 1/2") then look at the diameter of those CV half axles and you'll see what I'm talking about...

Thanks for the input Hammer !!! Been trying for 2 weeks to get some info on this subject and you have set my mind at ease lol!
I think with what you've said and some others ,that I will keep the 4 inch susp and add the 3 inch bl .
As far a tires I was planning on keepn the 35s until next summer as I just bought them.
In your opinion are the 35s too small for the additional lift ?
Again Hammer thx for takn some time outa yer day n helpn me out

Ok now after re reading yer post lol, if I get the bl will I be expecting to replace front end parts due to the lift , and if so should I be getn any of these components put in as preemptive measures like heavier duty ones ?

No! The BL won't add wear to your suspension. He's saying that most people who get a BL do it to get larger tires on which DO wear on the suspension. Not the BL. But yes 7+' of lift with 35s will look small. Hammer's truck is 4" of lift with 35s if you want that as a reference

I don't buy that the truck has a 4" suspension lift AND a level kit. A suspension lift levels the truck. A level kit raises the truck 2" in the front and your truck appears to be sitting dead level. PLUS you should never install two suspension lifts together (a level kit lifts the suspension) - this is a big time no-no and your "shop" should know this. You can combine a suspension and body lift or a level and body lift but not a suspension and level kit. Judging from the amount of wheel well space in front of and above your 35" tires it appears to have just the 4" suspension lift to me.

I don't think the shop either knows what the frack they are doing or isn't being perfectly straight with you. Judging by the 4"/6" screw up already, I'm betting on the former.

I'm curious to see the angle of the CV axles up front now. If the lift is installed correctly, the angle of the CVs should be dead level to the ground, more than 20* angle and they are destined to fail...
