Lack of Towing Power on 2006 Ram 3500
I have a 2006 3500 Diesel. The truck has an edge programmer and S&B Cold Air Intake. Truck has 59,000 miles.
I have noticed a lack of towing power on hills. Transmission service has been done, fuel filter is new, truck seems fine in 3 & 4th gears but diminished power in 1st and 2nd when towing a 10,000lb trailer.
RPM's will go up to around 2,800 - 3,000 but speed stays around 45 mph until I get to the top of the hill and the transmission shifts. Hills aren't an issue if I can get up speed before going up. Only seems like it lacks power when starting at the bottom.
Anyone have any ideas what should be checked? Seems to have ample power without pulling a load. Figured this truck shouldn't grunt with a 10,000lb trailer.
