Default Superchips 3865: 91 tune and detonation

Recently changed the tune on my 2003 4.7 Ram to "91 Performance" and filled up with 93 octane. Around 3700 RPM's, under load, I am getting very noticeable detonation (rattling). I'm not halfway through the tank of fuel and same result.

I've tried to register at Superchips but they wont email me the activation link.

Any thought?

By under load do you mean towing?

Dead2Fall. you beat me to it. I was going to ask the same question. No towing on the 91 tune. SC warns against it. Which is why I didn't buy SC or any tuner for that matter.

If it's towing/hauling, switch to the tow tune. Still pretty decent gains, still requires 91+ octane but timing isn't nearly as advanced as the Perf tune and you can tow up to the rated capacity of the vehicle.

You can also try posting in the SC thread that's in our FAQ section. I know at least two of the SC reps are pretty active in there...

No, not towing. Under normal load conditions. In other words, not just sitting and revving.

odd. The usual rule for 91 tune is less than 1000lbs. Do what hammer said and try it on tow tune... I have read alot about guys honestly saying they feel a bigger difference on the tow tune to begin with...
