Default o2 sensor went out

crusin around yesterday and went to caseys, my check engine light was on, pulled the code with my key got p0138 which was bad o2 sensor. problem is i was looking all over last night for one and the price varied from 130+ to 20 bucks so what is paying too much and what is just being cheap, i dont want to have to keep replacing it, also is this in immediate fix problem? my bro has been runnin his 97k1500 forever with one out but he has true duals

Most that I seem to see for decent price are around 50-60 bucks a piece, so I guess about right in the middle of the price you listed. Id just get a good name brand one.

As far as running straight pipe, it really just depends on the year and model of the vehicle. Many newer vehicles will run rich with a code thrown and no O2's, it really just depends on the vehicle and its setup. Your truck and newer hemi's are different than a mid-late 90's 350 small block.

I personally would never run straight pipe with no O2's on anything this new. IMO if it usually comes from the factory set up with O2's and throws a code when one goes out, it needs to be changed out to run like it was originally designed to.

There are usually exceptions to every rule but if my truck was anywhere close to stock, I wouldn't be an advocate of just throwing on a straight pipe.

Yeah I noticed that after I replied. For you having the older 360 you might be able to get by. I know alot of the 2nd gens are running around like that and don't seem to be having any issues so im guessing you'd be fine to as well.

If you were going to do that, id still want to get a tune or bypass the code so that its not always showing on the dash.
