2002 vs 2004 ram?
Hello,
I'm about to buy either a 2002 Dodge ram 2500 cummins (2WD) with 230 hp or a Dodge ram 2500 cummins from 2004 (4WD) with 325 hp. (My old wm-300 powerwagon needs company
)
I have been searching the forums to learn the differences between the two model years.
Pictures of the 2002 here

I'm from Scandinavia
and the price on the 2002 is about 20000$ and 28000$ for the 2004 (just love the taxes!)
Both have less than 92.000 miles on the odometer.
I have read that the 2004 model have common rail injection system and a newer transmission, but are there other important things I should be aware of?
I have test driven them both, but the 2002 had big offroad tires mounted and the ride felt a little more rough than the 2004. If they both were standard, should they drive alike or is the 2004 a better design?
Are the frame different between the two years? (stronger/less flex?)
Thanks,
Roald

2004 all the way the body style looks better and the power options for both of them are amazing and never ending. 500 bucks for a chip or a used efi live almost 200 extra hp good choice looking at a Cummins!
All I know is those prices are way too high! Even for CTD. I can get a 06-07 5.9 4x4 with less than 120,000 miles for 28k. Lifted and everything too!
Edit: I just saw the taxes part and where you're at so those could be good prices but not here lol

My buddy just bought a 06 4x4 Duramax for 16,000 with 90,XXX miles. And all the Cummins we looked at while we were both truck shopping are about right on 20,000 and up, i just wouldnt pay for on with over 101,XXX and if i did it would have to be a price under 16,000
Exactly most diesels dont break in till around 100,000 but i think the dodge may hold off till 150,000 or 200 lol! Cant beat a Cummins no matter what frame you stick it on
