Egr dec p0401
So i had to put a new motor in my truck, low & behold dodge makes different heads for CA or non CA motors. So my original was a CA model with the EGR on the front of the passenger side head, the new motor however does not have this port, is not even drilled for this sensor.
Then again it could be an 03 motor which i dont think had the EGR and the 04 did, i dont know.
I can drive for about 50 miles and the CEL comes on. I look at the bully dog diagnostics and it shows P0401 for insufficient EGR flow which is understandable because it is not bolted to the head.
Question is, is there a way to bypass this freaking thing, i hate the CEL and i cant fix this without a bypass or a new head (not an option). Jump the wires, put a resistor inline like an o2 sensor bypass, anything?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the link but it doesn't mention if there is a way to wire something in like there is an o2 sensor. If not how do i go about getting a tune? Local dodge dealer? Speed shop? Anyone know of anywhere in Chattanooga TN?
I am going to revive this one again because there simply has to be more than one solution. Is there anywhere that anyone knows of around Chattanooga TN that can reset it? Recommended speed shop maybe? Someone with a programmer who wouldn't mine hooking it to mine to turn it off? Anything i can do with some capacitors and resistors maybe? Anything at all !??!
You need a tuner. Its a good investment anyhow. Well worth it as numerous people here will tell you. Problem with someone putting theirs on your truck though. Once they tune their truck, the programmer gets locked to their vin. In order to do yours they would have to detune their truck, then it would have to be locked to your vin making it worthless for them.

Yep, gonna take a custom tune I believe...
So would it be possible to swap computers (computer from 03 in to an 04) then? Assuming i can find one in a junk yard or whatever for a reasonable price. If i somehow found one that had all the options mine does (which i am not sure i can) would that work?
The printout on my truck, the guys at dodge said there was no feature or available package that my truck does not already have, so i am not sure if 03 offered the same things.
Crazy that one damn sensor is such a pain to disable or workaround. I would just hook it up if i could... Anyhow..
