Default 4" cai?

hey guys. so since its labor day weekend coming up here im gonna have some time to finally tackle my CAI on my 05 5.7.. i stopped by the hardware store on my way home from work today to check on some prices and saw that the 4" pipe was around the same price as the 3".. now my question is would it be beneficial to go with 4" or just the 3" like it says in the DIY? not sure if using the bigger diameter would increase airflow too much or not? what do u guys think?

thanks

There are plenty of guys on here that run 4" pipe for their CAI but just keep in mind the TB is only 3" so you'll need a 4" to 3" coupler to secure it. As for the airflow it will be more airflow technically but since the TB is only 3" it won't do much good

Personally I think it looks goofy with the 4-3 Fernco, look in gen discussion, someone just did a badass one with 3" electrical conduit. Nice long bend instead of 45/90* like plumbing stuff.

The lower the better is the idea but just make sure you remember you have to be able to get the filter out to clean/change it. And be mindful of what engine parts are near it so it doesn't get to much hot air

You may get cooler air down there but be careful of water.

And yes Ewing11 CAI is the best one ive seen on here.

Go big or go home!
4" looks better sounds better and imho performs if not better no worse than a wimpy 3" cai ...don't cheat yourself and your Hemi w/anything less.
